IIn one of the more intriguing early match ups in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, Texas (38-18) will be taking on rival Texas A&M (33-23) on Friday in the opening round of the double-elimination Rice Regional in Houston.
The Longhorns are the No. 2 seed in the tourney, while the Aggies are the No. 3 seed.
J. B. Moss and A. J. Minter, both former standouts at The BrooK Hill School, are included on the Aggie roster.
Rice's Owls are the top seed, with George Mason University rounding out the field.
This will be the first time that Texas and Texas A&M have met in any of the men's major (football, basketball, baseball) sports since the Aggies bolted for the greener pastures of the Southeastern Conference in 2012.
In other tournament news, TCU, ranked No. 7 nationally, will be hosting a regional that will also include Siena, Sam Houston State and Dallas Baptist.
The Horned Frogs open with Siena on Friday evening in Fort Worth.
