One and done.
After serving as assistant men's basketball coach at Jacksonville College for the past year, Ryan Glenney, is leaving the institution to become assistant men's basketball coach at North Platte (Neb.) Community College.
“We're going to miss him, that's for sure,” JC head men's basketball coach, Jody Bailey, said in reference to Glenney. “He has been my right-hand man and has been an assets to our program.”
Glenney, who holds degrees from both Iowa State University and Dallas Baptist University, is from Muscatine, Iowa and Bailey said that he believes that that had a lot to do with Glenney making the decision to leave JC.
“On top of the North Platte job being a good financial deal for him, I think that Ryan wanted to get back a little bit closer to home,” Bailey said.
Prior to taking the JC gig last summer, Glenney had served as assistant men's basketball coach at Western Texas College for two seasons.
The Knights of North Platte compete in NJCAA Region IX. The team posted a record of 27-5 last year and advanced to the finals of their conference tournament where they fell to Gillette (Wyo.) College.
Bailey said that he has already compiled a short list of potential replacements for Glenney.
“When we hired Ryan he was on a short list of four people and I have another list of about four men that I feel would be good fits for our program and our university,” said Bailey. “So, hopefully we will be able to settle on someone soon.”
