Friday's TAPPS 4-3A contest between Dallas First Baptist and Brook Hill was supposed to be a competitive game, with First Baptist coming in with an impressive 16-4 record.

But, Brook Hill has a knack of making good teams look bad and that's exactly what happened Friday evening at Herrignton Gymnasium when the Guard (12-10) raked shellacked the Saints, 68-36.

Brook Hill led 18-10 after the first quarter of play and was never seriously threatned after the rest of the way. Grant Hanks poured in 27 points to guide the Guard to victory while Clayton Engel totaled 20 points to go along with eight rebounds. Guard head coach Wally Dawkins also sung the praises of Alex hale, who came up with eight rebounds and blocked five of the Saints' shots.

“We've worked extremely hard in practice the paast two weeks,” Dawkins siad. “It has really been a grueling two weeks, but I think the intensity and discipline has proven worthwhile as we have knocked off two good teams by 24 and 34 points, respectively.” Brook Hill will return to the Metroplex on Friday for a date with McKinney Christian.
