Jacksonville High School athletic director and head football coach, Chris Taber, is one of nine assistant coaches for the Blue squad in the Chick-fil-a Heart of a Champion Bowl, which will be played on Saturday June 14 at Trinity Mother Francis Rose Stadium in Tyler.
The annual all-star gridiron clash pits many of the top seniors from throughout East Texas against one another.
Mount Vernon High School's Mike Alexander will serve as the Blue's head coach, with Taber being one of three offensive assistants.
Joe Drennan (Mineola) and Mitch Ables (Mt. Vernon) will also be working with the Blue's offensive players.
Defensive coaches for the squad include, Ricklan Holmes (John Tyler), Scott Wells (Commerce), Mark Sartain (Spring Hill), Jacob Holder (Mt. Vernon) and Mike Meador (Lindale).
Bullard High School's Kelly Nichols will serve as cheerleader sponsor for the Blue team as well.
Opposing the Blue unit will be the Red squad.
White Oak's Gerry Sanford will served as head coach of the Red team.
Offensive assistants for that unit are, Adam Cook (Whitehouse), Matt Nally (Frankston) and Richard Burks (White Oak).
Directing the Red defenders will be Darrell Piske (Tyler Lee), David Plunk (Hallsville), Terry Ward (Tenaha), Kris Iske (White Oak) and Coby Gipson (TK Gorman).
Harmony's Cheryl Trimble will direct the Red's cheerleaders.
Rosters will be announced at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in a ceremony to be held at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler.
Chick-fil-a Heart of a Champion Bowl all-star week will take place June 11-14.
