Prep Hoops Roundup: Troup boys move to 7-1 in district



Troup 60, Harmony 33: TROUP — Troup completed the series sweep over Harmony by dominating the Eagles, 60-33, in an 18-2A affair that was played at Tiger Gymnasium on Tuesday. The Tigers at 7-1 in conference, are now tied with Hawkins at the top of the league standings after the Hawks were upset by Frankston, 46-37, Tuesday in Frankston. Leading scorers for the Tigers were Brandon Hearon (12), Chance Selvidge (10), Marcus Kincade (9) and Braxton Kincade and Lou Roberson, who fired in six points each. Troup hits the road for West Rusk on Friday.


Alto 86, New Summerfield 52: NEW SUMMERFIELD — Alto took over outright possession of first place in District 21-A-I and dropped New Summerfield into second by chalking up an 86-52 win over the Hornets. The Yellowjackets are 4-0 in league play, with New Summerfield now a game behind. Alto did most of its damage early on as the Mean Sting led 42-22 at halftime. Angel Marroquin had 17 points and five rebounds for New Summerfield while Case Wilkerson knocked in nine and Francisco Parra had eight.


Dallas-Yavneh Academy 49, Brook Hill 46: BULLARD — In a battle of TAPPS District 4-3A heavyweights, Dallas-Yavneh Academy's Bulldogs were able to get the best of Brook Hill, winning 49-46 Tuesday at Herrington Gymnasium in Bullard. The loss was Brook Hill's first in conference. The Guard are now 15-11, 4-1, while the Bulldogs improved to 5-0 in district. Yavneh Academy led 23-20 at the break. Grant Hanks finished with 20 points for the Guard and Clayton Engel chipped in with nine, followed by Chase McDermott and Phillip Kitt with six apiece. Brook Hill will host Dallas Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. Friday.




Brook Hill 50, Dallas-Yavneh Academy 27: BULLARD — Avery Langemeier shredded the twine for 21 points as Brook Hill coasted to a 50-27 triumph over Dallas-Yavheh Academy on Tuesday in Bullard. Lauren Eden added 11, with Emily Webb and A. D. Kuechle popping in six apiece. Brook Hill (7-8, 3-1) outscored the Lady Bulldogs 15-3 in the second quarter to move ahead 25-10 at the halfway point. Next up for the Lady Guard is a home date with Dallas Lutheran at 6 p.m. Friday.

    In filling its opening for a head girl's basketball coach, The Brook Hill School turned to Ivan Johnson, a coach that has been has achieved playoff success in TAPPS circles.

    Johnson was introduced as Brook Hill's man to lead the Lady Guard hoop charges Tuesday afternoon in a press conference that was held on campus at the Kyle Lake Athletic Center.
