Jacksonville athletic director Chris Taber announced late Friday afternoon that three Fightin’ Indian seniors have verbally agreed to attend and play football at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
Tony Lane (WR), Justin Stewart (OL) and LeKendrick Anderson (LB) all plan on attending the NCAA Division III institution.
“First, we are glad that these young men will have a chance to continue their educations,” Taber said. “That’s the most important thing. Getting to play football, too, is just icing on the cake.”
Lane, Stewart and Anderson join Claude Franklin, who committed earlier this week to Texas A&M Commerce (NCAA, Division II), as JHS seniors who have given their respective verbal (non-binding) pledges.
Taber added that there are at least a couple more of the school's seniors that are looking at attempting to play at the next level as well, but have not reached a decision.
The first day that letters can be signed is Wednesday, National Signing Day.
