TEMPLE, Texas —
The No. 16-ranked Jacksonville College men's tennis team recorded, arguably, its biggest victory in the history of the young program on Feb. 1 when the Jaguars defeated Temple College, 5-4, on the Leopards' home court.
The match was JC's spring opener.
JC won four of the six men's singles matches.
Ricardo Berlinga took down Longoria of TC, 6-1, 6-1 and Gil Lim won a marathon over Henderl (TC), 6-2, 4-6, 12-10.
In No. 3 singles, JC's Edgar Polanco slammed Sharma, 6-1, 6-0.
The Jags' remaining point in men's singles came when Taylor Johnson polished off Torres, 7-5, 6-1. in No. 6 singles play.
In No. 1 doubles, JC's Berlinga & Polanco stopped TC's Longoria & Sharma, 8-6.
Temple dominated on the women's sign, as the Lady Leopards shutout the Lady Jags, 9-0.
JC had just four women available for the match.
The Lady Jags, who are ranked No. 23 nationally, will return to action Friday by taking part in the Collin College Tournament.
The JC men want play again until Feb. 22 when they take on Tyler Junior College in Region XIV play.
