35-4A Soccer: JHS girls move to 2-0 with latest win

Reagan scores twice; Sydney Chambless nets 2 assists

Jacksonville outshot Diboll 21-1 and, more importantly, outscored the Ladyjacks 4-0 Wednesday night at Lumberjack Stadium to remain perfect (2-0) in District 35-4A.

The Maidens will carry a 3-5-1 overall record into Friday night's match against rival Palestine.

The girls will get started at 5:30 p.m., followed by a boys match at 7:00.

Friday will be Jacksonville Soccer Association Night at Tomato Bowl with all sorts of events slated to recognize the players and coaches from the local youth soccer group.

Mia Zidan put Jacksonville on the board in the 12th minute Wednesday, with Sydney Chambless earning an assist on a throw in on the score.

The Maidens' second goal came from Callie Reagan in the 18th minute.

After Reagan drilled another ball into the back of the net 11 minutes later, the Maidens were able to take a 3-0 lead into intermission.

Chambless earned another assist on the play.

Jacksonville's last point came off of the foot of Kennison Chambless, and took place in the 66th minute.

Angie Sanchez worked the first half in goal for the winners, with Reagan playing the last half. The two Maidens were credited with a combined shutout.

“It's really a good way for us to start off district, going 2-0,” Jacksonville head girls soccer coach Kiff Wiemers said. “That puts pressure on other teams, and takes pressure off of us.”

JUNIOR VARSITY — Jacksonville slammed Diboll, 6-0 in the sub-varsity match. Kyla Santana knocked in two points and tallied three assists.

Karina Sandoval also scored twice, with Alyssa Hammons and Annabel Trujillo adding single goals.
