Men and womens tennis teams from Jacksonville College are scheduled to host Dallas Baptist University at 4 p.m. Friday at the Frances White Tennis Complex at Jacksonville High School, in what is to be the squad's only home match of the spring semester.
Dallas Baptist is a NCAA Division II school.
“I would like to invite all of the Jacksonville College fans and tennis fans out to see our men and women play Friday,” Jacksonville head coach, Mark Robbins, said. “I know that our players have been working hard all year and that they are looking forward to getting to play at home this week.”
The Jags will bring a 2-2 worksheet into play on Friday, while the JC ladies are still seeking their first win of the spring.
The Jags fell, 9-0, in a Region XIV match against Tyler Junior College on Saturday, while the Tyler women socked the Lady Jags with a 6-0 loss.
The JC men, ranked No. 16 in the country, downed No. 22-ranked New Mexico Military Institute on Friday at the Collin Super 6 Tournament, in Plano.
JC men won five of the six singles matches.
Edgar Polanco polished off Duchnak, 7-6, 4-6, 12-10.
In other action, Gil Lim came out on top (8-2) in his match against Moncada.
Other singles winners for the Tribe were: Gil Lim (won, 7-5, 6-2 vs. Garza), Daniel Apacible (won, 7-6, 6-1 vs. Ruiz), Miles Monroe (won, 7-6, 6-1 vs. Moncada) and Taylor Johnson who spanked Elmore, 6-4, 6-0.
JC's men also played Bethany College of Kansas, currently ranked No. 6 in the most recent NAIA poll, Saturday in Plano where the Swedes prevailed, 9-0.
