KILGORE —

Year in, year out, the Kilgore Oil Belt Classic draws a stellar field of high school baseball teams and this season was no exception.

Rusk slipped to 5-7 on the year after losing its final three games in the tournament.

On Friday, Texarkana Pleasant Grove clipped the Red and Black, 2-0, to spoil a three-hit complete game effort by Rusk's Jadarian Skinner, a senior. Skinner fanned three in the game.

Rusk collected six hits, but was unable to plate anyone.

Parker Clark and Jordan Roach picked up a couple of hits each for Rusk.

The Hawks scored both of their runs in the bottom of the first inning.

On Saturday Rusk lost, 10-2 to Class 4-A Nacogdoches, and 12-2 to the Glenbrook Apaches, a small private school from Minden, La.

Clark had two safeties in the loss to Nacogdoches, while Roach was credited with a RBI.

Glenbrook shelled Eagle pitching for 10 hits in winning by 10 runs.

Vijay Stingley had two of the Red and Black's three hits in the affair.

Rusk opens District 19-3A play at 7 p.m. Tuesday by visiting Fairfield.
