JACKSONVILLE —

Brownsboro Bears (2-2) at Rusk Eagles (1-3)

7:30 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium

Head Coaches: Jason Hooker, Brownsboro; Ted Patton, Rusk

Last Week: Brownsboro 42, Wills Point 6; Athens 49, Rusk 0

Next Week: Mabank at Brownsboro; Rusk at Carthage

Quick Take: The Eagles have been on a roller coaster ride the past two weeks after shutting out Eustace 21-0 two weeks ago and then being crushed by Athens in their last outing...The Bears come in on a two-game win streak, having polished off Westwood and Wills Point by a combined score of 76-13...With road games at No. 1 Carthage next week and then a trip to Fairfield to open district play, the Red and Black need a win in the worst way this week against what seems to be a good Brownsboro team.

Huntington Red Devils (1-2) at Troup Tigers (3-1)

7:30 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium

Head Coaches: Ryan Soderquist, Huntington; Dennis Alexander, Troup

Last Week: Bullard at Huntington was canceled due to poor field conditions. Troup 28, Arp 14

Next Week: Huntington at Madisonville; Troup is idle.

Quick Take: The Tigers will be looking to put smiles on the faces of the homecoming crowd that will be on hand for this one...Coach Alexander said that despite his club's 3-1 record, it hasn't been an all-smiles kind of season in his estimation. “We have been playing just well enough to win, but if we don't get some things fixed this week and in the off week, we could struggle once we get into district, where the teams will be a lot tougher,” Alexander said...Look for the Red Devils to be rusty having been inactive last week due to torrential rain that hit the region on Friday...Huntington's only win (20-18) came vs. a winless Talkington club in Zero Week...Troup opens conference play on Oct. 11 by visiting Jefferson.

T. K.Gorman Crusaders (2-1) at Brook Hill Guard (1-2)

7:30 p.m. Friday at Herrington Stadium in Bullard

Head Coaches: Coby Gipson, T. K. Gorman; Bobby Brasher, Brook Hill

Last Week: T. K. Gorman 53, All Saints 12; Spring Hill 35, Brook Hill 14

Next Week: Prince of Peace at T. K. Gorman; Brook Hill at Dallas Shelton

Quick Take: With two wins under their belts already the Crusaders have already matched last season's win and therefore can not be taken lightly...T.K. Gorman is averaging just south of 48 points a night, so Brook Hill defense needs to bring its “A” game for this one...Gorman averages 343 total yards per outing... Crusader QB Tristan Saint has already surpassed the 1,000-passing yard mark (1,099, 11 TDs)...Guard could benefit from a tough non-district schedule that has seen them face Class 3A Spring Hill and a rock-solid Garrison (Class 2A) club...Blake Maddox had 10 tackles for Brook Hill last week.

Alto Yellowjackets (2-2) at Trinity Tigers (3-1)

7:30 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium in Trinity

Head Coaches: Paul Gould, Alto; Jarrod Smith, Trinity

Last Week: Alto 26, Frankston 0; Trinity 22, New Waverly 10

Next Week: Alto is idle. Trinity at Teague

Quick Take: Alto will be looking to establish some winning consistency this week, before starting conference play on Oct. 11...A win at a much-improved Trinity could be difficult for the Mean Sting...Look for the Tigers to be out to avenge last year's 44-14 loss to Alto.

NOTE: Bullard has an open date this week.
