HENDERSON —

The Bullard Lady Panthers could not close out game five and took a big District 16-3A loss against Henderson on Tuesday night at Lion Gymnasium.

Henderson won games one (25-17), and two (22-25), before the Lady Panthers got going.

Bullard came back to take game three 25-23, and tied the match at two games each with another 25-23 win in game four. The Lady Lions however stepped up in the finale and won 15-5 to take the win.

There was a definite home advantage with a great crowd, and we seem to always have a tough time playing at their place,” said Bullard head coach, Ben Belshaw after the loss. “We fought hard to get back in the match in games 2-4, we just have to learn to finish when we get to a game five.

I am proud of the heart and effort of our kids, and there was some good volleyball played on both sides tonight,” Belshaw added, ”Hats off to Henderson for getting the win at home tonight. A game like this just shows how tough our district is overall."

Leading the Lady Panthers at the net was Mackenzie Fish with 16 kills, two aces and 32 digs. Teammate, Katie Cole scrambled for 20 digs, and two aces, on 17-for-17 serving.

Ashley Searcy was stellar at service going 11-for-11 serving, adding in 16 kills, and one block.

Madi Hodges paced the defense with 32 digs, and Mallory McCoy chimed in with

two aces, 17 assists and 17 digs, and Rachel Kelley with 13 assists.

Abby Story and Katie Bell had outstanding games for Bullard but not enough for the Bullard JV, losing 14-25 and 22-25.

The Henderson freshmen won by 25-8 and 25-3.

The Lady Panthers slip to 18-12 on the year and 2-3 in league play. Bullard will play at Kilgore on Friday at 4 p.m.
