Playing its first top-10 team of the season didn't sit too well with the Rusk Eagles Friday night as Carthage celebrated its homecoming by trouncing the Red and Black 44-7 at Bulldog Stadium.
The game was the final non-district tilt for both clubs.
Carthage (5-1) scored all of its points in the first half, before turning things over to the reserves for the most part in the second half.
Rusk (2-4) was able to move the ball well at times but was ineffective in getting the pigskin into the end zone against the stout Bulldog defense.
The Eagles got on the board with 4:46 remaining in the game when D.J. Glenn capped off a seven play, 70-yard drive, by jetting in from 25 yards out.
