Volleyball Roundup: No. 18 Troup, Bullard sweep district rivals

JACKSONVILLE —

No. 18 Troup 3, Hawkins 0: In a district 18-2A match that took place in Hawkins, the Troup Lady Tigers made short work of Hawkins, winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-7) Friday night.

Josee Ross turned in an eight kill, seven aces and four dig night for the winners while Cheney Cover pitched in seven spikes, five digs and five service aces. Money Hale added four kills, three blocks and an ace. Troup will be in action again Tuesday when the Lady Tigers host Frankston at 5:30 p.m.

 

Bullard 3, Kilgore 0: Mackenzie Fish ignited Bullard to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-17) triumph over the Lady Bulldogs of Kilgore Friday evening at Bulldog Gymnasium. Fish racked up a double-double (15 kills, 11 digs) to guide Bullard (19-12, 3-3) to victory. Ashley Searcy tossed in eight kills and four blocks. Defensively, Madi Hodge registered 16 digs for the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers travel to Spring Hill for a 6:30 p.m. match on Tuesday.

 

Carthage 3, Rusk 0: Rusk took a break from conference play to take on Carthage at Bulldog Gymnasium Friday afternoon, with the home team advancing 3-0 (25-11, 31-29, 25-10). Carthage improved to 26-8 with the win. Rusk returns to District 19-3A action at 7 p.m. Tuesday by visiting Palestine.
