SAN ANTONIO —
The Brook Hill School edged out Houston-St. Thomas Episcopal to claim the Henderson Cup (Class 3A), one of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools' (TAPPS) most prestigious awards.
The trophy was presented to Brook Hill Athletic Director Wally Dawkins during TAPPS' summer meetings in San Antonio last week.
The Henderson Cup is unique in that it combines schools' accomplishments academically, athletically and in fine arts.
It was the Guard's recent state championship in baseball was just enough to push Brook Hill past St. Thomas Episcopal in a competition that went down to the wire.
Brook Hill ended up with 73 points, two points in front of St. Thomas Episcopal.
The Henderson Cup will be on display in the Brook Hill trophy case for the next year.
