H.S. Boys Soccer: Jacksonville High graduate Lawless named Coach of the Year in District 31-4A

LINDALE —  Former Jacksonville High School head boy’s soccer coach Jason Lawless has been named as the District 31-4A Coach of the Year.

Lawless, a 1989 graduate of Jacksonville High School, piloted the Eagles to a 21-6-6 record.

Lindale advanced all the way to the regional quarterfinal round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

Lawless also serves as an assistant football coach at Lindale and teaches 9th-grade biology.

Lawless started his coaching career in jacksonville, where he worked for four years before moving over to Athens.

After a 9-year stint in Athens, Lawless went to work at Lindale, where he has been for the last six seasons.

In five of those years, Lawless has guided the Eagles to district championships.

Lindale earned playoff victories over Marshall (2-1), Texarkana Texas High (2-0) and against Pine Tree (3-1, shootout) before falling (2-1) to North Dallas.

Lawless is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University.
