Two of East Texas’ most prolific softball standouts, Sydney Littlejohn of Rusk and Troup’s Katelyn Standley will see thee curtain fall on their respective high school careers Thursday at one of Texas’ iconic softball venues, Red & Charline McCombs Field at University of Texas in Austin.
Littlejohn, a senior flame thrower will be playing for the Blue Team in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 1A-3A All-Star Game, which is scheduled for 10 a.m.
The Class 4A-5A game will be staged at the same venues beginning at 2 p.m.
Littlejohn will be heading off to the University of Alabama later this summer, as she as signed a national letter to continue her education and softball career at the Tuscaloosa institution.
LIttlejohn is the only East Texan on the team, that is slated to be coached by Amy Mclaughlin of Orangefield High School and Amber Riddle from Hawley High School.
Troup’s Katelyn Standley will be be playing on the Red team which is the opposition for Littlejohn’s Red squad.
Standley, a power-hitting catcher, will be continuing her softball laying days at Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall, where she has received a scholarship.
Kaylee Prather from Elysian Fields joins Standley as East Texans competing on the Red unit.
The team is coached by Roger maupin (Weimer High School) and Landon Winton (Lubbock-Cooper High School).
The all-star games are part of the TGCA summer clinic week, which features volleyball, basketball and softball all-star tilts.
