Hornets sting Goats, 69-52; Parra tosses in 21

CENTRAL HEIGHTS —

  Francisco Parra had the hot hand and New Summerfield took advantage of it by beating Groesbeck, 69-52, in opening day play of the Central Heights Tournament on Thursday.

Parra, a junior guard, shot 8-12 (67%) from the field to spark the Hornets, who are now 6-4.

William Ramsey added 13 points for New Summerfield, followed by Devin Abercrombie and Case Wilkerson, who chipped in nine apiece.

Ramsey also snatched down a team-high nine rebounds.

New Summerfield led 43-30 at halftime and was never threatened in the second half.

The Hornets lost their first game of the tournament, falling 71-47 to state-ranked Laneville.

The Central Heights Tournament is scheduled to wrap up today.
