ESPN NFL Insider Adam Scheftner reported early Wednesday afternoon that free agent quarterback Josh McCown has agreed to a $10 million deal with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to the report, McCown's agent, Michael McCartney, confirmed the two-year agreement which is scheduled to pay McCown $4.75 million in 2014-15 and $5.25 million the following season.
McCown, 34, is a product of Jacksonville High School, and is coming off of a banner season as a back up with the Chicago Bears.
In eight games with the Bears, including five starts, last season, McCown, tossed 113 touchdown passes while giving up just one interception.
McCown was named as NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Dec. 15.
McCown's inking with the Buccaneers, reunites him with former Bear head coach Lovie Smith, who is from Big Sandy.
According to various reports the Houston Texans and the New York Jets were also interested in McCown's services.
