Troup forged ahead of host Hawkins by taking a 7-0 lead after five and a half frames on Tuesday and the Lady Tigers went on to hold off a late rally by Hawkins.
Troup improved to 8-12, 4-1 in District 18-2A by eventually prevailing, 7-4.
The Lady Tigers made the most of their eight singles in the game.
Bethany Mason went 2 for 3 and scored two runs and stole a base to lead Troup at the dish.
Miranda Flora aided the Troup cause by going 2 for 4 and knocking in a couple of runs.
Caitlin Tomlin also had a pair of hits and scored twice.
“Overall we struggled some at the plate, but we did have a few individuals that had some great at bats,” Troup head softball coach, Sam Weeks, said.
McKenzie Hugghins and Josee Ross picked up the Lady Tigers' remaining safeties.
Ross handled the pitching chores for Troup and allowed only a single earned run off of four hits in seven innings. She struck out 14 and issued two base on balls in the 105-pitch outing.
Troup was scheduled to have played Frankston on Friday evening. The results of that contest were not available as of press time.
Frankston came into the game tied with the Lady Tigers for second place in the conference.
