Eagles tighten grip on first place after stopping Mexia, 10-0

RUSK —

Parker Clark and Austin Ballew generated two hits each as Rusk coasted past Mexia, 10-0 in five innings, Friday night at Eagle Park.

The Eagles (9-9, 4-0 19-3A) completed their first pass through conference play completely unscathed, having outscored their foes by a total of 37-0.

Rusk has a two game lead over both Fairfield and Palestine, with the Eagles slated to host Fairfield at 7 p.m. tonight.

In the first meeting between the clubs back on March 5, Rusk hammered Fairfield (8-7-1, 2-2), 10-0.

Ballew and Jadarian Skinner drove in two runs apiece to fuel the Red and Black to the win over the Blackcats (3-12-1, 1-3).

Wyatt Gilchrest picked up the win on the hill for the Eagles. He struck out three in five innings of work.

Rusk extended its winning streak to three with its latest triumph.
