Bullard freshman Zach Eschberger made his first visit to historic Driller Park in Kilgore a memorable one.
The young lefty fanned 11 Bulldog batters as Bullard shut out Kilgore 6-0 in a District 16-3A tilt.
On the offensive side, Bullard catcher, Trevor Rumbelow slapped a two-RBI single in the top of the third-inning for all the runs the Panthers would need coasting to victory Friday night.
Eschberger, who remained undefeated in league play, walked four and scattered three hits in picking up the win.
Panther Cody Goode added a RBI-single to plate Jesse Duplechin for some insurance in the fourth-inning.
The fifth stanza, Bullard got consecutive hits from J.P. Hendrix and Haden Bryant. Hendrix eventually came around to score on a passed ball for the 5-0 cushion.
In the final Panther at-bat, two lead-off walks haunted reliever, Joseph Sheppard as Panther first baseman, Jacob Proventer’s RBI-single capped the scoring at 6-0.
Haden Bryant led the Panthers at the plate going 2 for 3, and a run scored. Holden Bryant walked twice and scored both times, while teammate J.P. Hendrix was 1 for 3, with a sacrifice and two runs scored for the winners.
The Bulldogs did manage to get three hits off Eschberger, on singles by Cooper Coldiron, Joseph Sheppard, and Bennie Colbert.
Bullard will continue league play by entertaining Gladewater at 7 p.m. this evening.
