Facing three nationally ranked programs at the Collin College Tennis Bash late last week, the Jacksonville College womens tennis team came home with some valuable experience that should make them a stronger squad in the long run.

JC's best came in a four-hour match against No. 17 New Mexico Military Institute.

The match boiled down to be decided by only two points, as NMMI surpassed the No. 23-ranked Lady Jaguars, 4-3.

JC captured both of the doubles matches, where Lambo Robinson and Kara Chitty of Frankston teamed up to edge Hernandez & Korinihona, 9-7.

Lady Jags Kailla Parker and Carolina Hernandez, a Jacksonville High School product, defeated Duchnak & Espinoza, by the same 9-7 score.

JC's only win in singles action was recorded by Hernandez.

She coasted by Espindza in straight sets, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Robinson, Chitty and Parker all fell in singles play, but Robinson put up a heck of fight in the process, losing 6-3, 4-6,( 9-11).

In a late match on Friday, the Lady Jags lost, 6-0, to No. 10-ranked North Central Texas College.

Robinson played a very competitive match in No. 1 singles where she was stopped by Rodriquez, 3-6, 4-6.

Saturday saw the JC ladies play No. 9 Cowley College of Kansas, with the Lady Tigers logging a 6-0 win over the Lady Jags.

Top efforts were recorded by Robinson & Chitty in No. 1 doubles where they were upended, 4-8.

Chitty got the nod in No. 1 singles and fell to Sarah Giraldo, 3-6, 3-6.

Robinson took on Cowley's Shali Schoepflin in No. 2 singles and was defeated, 3-6, 3-6.

JC head tennis coach, Mark Robbins, said that he was pleased with the results of the individual matches.
