JC womens tennis team gets valuable experience in Collin Tennis Bash

Facing three nationally ranked programs at the Collin College Tennis Bash late last week, the Jacksonville College womens tennis team came home with some valuable experience that should make them a stronger squad in the long run.

JC's best came in a four-hour match against No. 17 New Mexico Military Institute.

The match boiled down to be decided by only two points, as NMMI surpassed the No. 23-ranked Lady Jaguars, 4-3.

JC captured both of the doubles matches, where Lambo Robinson and Kara Chitty of Frankston teamed up to edge Hernandez & Korinihona, 9-7.

Lady Jags Kailla Parker and Carolina Hernandez, a Jacksonville High School product, defeated Duchnak & Espinoza, by the same 9-7 score.

JC's only win in singles action was recorded by Hernandez.

She coasted by Espindza in straight sets, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Robinson, Chitty and Parker all fell in singles play, but Robinson put up a heck of fight in the process, losing 6-3, 4-6,( 9-11).

In a late match on Friday, the Lady Jags lost, 6-0, to No. 10-ranked North Central Texas College.

Robinson played a very competitive match in No. 1 singles where she was stopped by Rodriquez, 3-6, 4-6.

Saturday saw the JC ladies play No. 9 Cowley College of Kansas, with the Lady Tigers logging a 6-0 win over the Lady Jags.

Top efforts were recorded by Robinson & Chitty in No. 1 doubles where they were upended, 4-8.

Chitty got the nod in No. 1 singles and fell to Sarah Giraldo, 3-6, 3-6.

Robinson took on Cowley's Shali Schoepflin in No. 2 singles and was defeated, 3-6, 3-6.

JC head tennis coach, Mark Robbins, said that he was pleased with the results of the individual matches.
