NCAA Softball: Standley's hot bat results in 2 wins for SFA

Katelyn Standley of Jacksonville, who prepped at Troup High School, had her best day in a Stephen F. Austin State University uniform on Friday.

The true freshman ripped three home runs to help propel the Ladyjack softball team to two wins in the University North Texas-Texas Shootout in Denton.

In a game against Sam Houston State, Standley punched out a fifth-frame grand slam. Lator in the contest she homered again to put SFA up for good as the Ladyjacks went on to win, 8-6.

In SFA's second game of the day versus Prairie View A&M, Standley went 3 for 4 and drove in five runs while plating three times, which helped enable the Ladyjacks to win, 9-4.

In that game, Standley hit a round tripper, which scored two runs and put SFA up 3-1 in the third inning, and then drove in three additional runs with a powerful blast to left field.

SFA improved to 5-7 with the wins.

Standley is the daughter of Jeff and Cheryl Standley.
