Eagle 9 drop decisions to Carthage
Baseball teams from Rusk and Carthage did battle Friday and Saturday by playing a single game in each community.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the results was the same as the Bulldogs ran their worksheet to 7-6 on the year by beating Rusk 2-0 in Carthage Friday night and 6-0 Saturday afternoon at Eagle Park.

Jacksonville's Fightin' Maidens collected a District 35-4A triumph Friday night at Tomato Bowl without even scoring a goal.
Yes that's right, because Lufkin Hudson knocked in the only goal of the match — an own goal — with 12:58 to play in the match.
After the Maidens (7-7-2, 6-2-1 District 35-4A) almost scored on their own, the ball deflected a few feet out in front of the Hudson goalkeeper and in the made rush to clear the ball already Hornet accidentally knocked the ball into the Jacksonville goal.

A disastrous defensive first half put the Jacksonville College Lady Jaguars in a hole that they could not claw themselves out of Friday afternoon in a semi-final game of the Region XIV Championship Tournament at Louise Herrington Patriot Center.
After allowing the No.1-ranked Lady Cardinals (31-1) to shoot at a 62.2-percent (23 of 37) clip in the first 20 minutes of play, the Lady Jags (17-14) found themselves down by 20 points, 54-34, at intermission.
Girls Powerlifting: Bullard qualifies 5 for upcoming state meet
Bullard finished second as a team at the Girls Region 3 Division 2 Powerlifting Meet last weekend at Crandell High School, but more importantly qualified five young ladies for the Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Association State Meet, which takes place late next week at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.
