BRENHAM — Jacksonville College withstood a frantic comeback try from Blinn College to defeat the Buccaneers, 72-69, Saturday night.
Davon Anderson came off of the bench to score 20 points, pull down six rebounds and pass out four assists to ignite the Jaguars (18-7, 9-5 Region XIV), who led 34-22 at the break.
JC repelled three soring chances that Blinn had inside of final 47 seconds to seal the verdict.
Mitchell Farr and Nimrod Hillard IV added 10 points apiece for the winners.
Farr drained two triples while Hillard also came up with seven rebounds for the Jags.
Blinn was led in scoring by Macari Brooks with 17 points.
The Jags will be back at home on Tuesday when they entertain the Cougars of Coastal Bend.
Note that the tip-off of that game has been pushed back to 6 p.m. and will not take place a its original 5:30 p.m. time.
