JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville College Jag Club news

The Jacksonville College Jag Club decided by a unanimous vote in their July meeting to extend the period of service for their officers for the 2013-14 school year. Jan Brazier (President), Dick Turner (Vice President), Lu Wegmet (Secretary), David White (Treasurer) and Tim Timmons (FCA Chaplain) will lead the organization for the next 12 months. In other Jag Club doings, the organization decided to implement a $20 annual membership fee for all Jag Club members. Previously, purchasing a season ticket to Jaguar/Lady Jaguar basketball games granted membership to the Jag Club. The membership will include a name badge and a 10% discount for merchandise purchased at the Jag Bookstore as well as grant members admission to the hospitality room at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse at designated games during the upcoming basketball season.







TTA 8U Machine Pitch State Tournament: Rusk Rangers stay perfect

BROWNWOOD — Rusk's Rangers improved to 2-0 in Texas Teenage Baseball Association 8U Machine Pitch State Tournament action, which is taking place this week in Brownwood, after defeating the Mexia Texans on Tuesday evening. Rusk was slated to square off against the Rogers Eagles in a winner's bracket tilt on Wednesday. Ranger players include, Joshua Arrendondo, Garrett Brooks, Albert Dominy, DeKeathen Kincade, Brett Rawlinson, Cameron Robinson, Tarrant Sunday, Korben Torres Brallen Trawick, Mason Trowbridge, Landon Walley, Bryce Grimes, Jacob Thompson and Xavier Kendrick. The team is coached by Aaron Brooks.







Maiden Volleyball Camp on tap next week

Jacksonville High School will be hosting Maiden Volleyball Camp this coming Monday-Wednesday at the Upper Gym. Those in grades 5-7 will go between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., with an afternoon (1:00-3:00 p.m.) being offered for girls in grades 8 and 9. There is a $30 fee per camper ($25 for second child living in same household). Registration can be conducted on the first day of camp. JHS head volleyball coach Billie Walley will serve as camp director. Participants are encouraged to wear shorts or volleyball tights and a t-shirt, along with athletic shoes. Volleyball Showcase set for TJC Sunday

TYLER —  The East texas Volleyball Showcase will take place Sunday at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Gymnasium. The first wave will take place from 8 a.m.-noon, with Wave 2 set to take place from 1:00-5:00 p.m. The cost is $70 per player.
