BULLARD —

The Lady Guard volleyball team of Brook Hill celebrated their three seniors' final regular-season game at Herrington Sports Complex by leveling McKinney Christian Academy, 3-1,in TAPPS 4-3A play Thursday night.

The Brook Hill victory enabled the Lady Guard to avenge their only district lost, which came last month to the Lady Mustangs, which entered play Thursday with a spotless conference slate.

Brook Hill head coach Joanna Rathbun said Thursday's win was a total team effort, however.

The ladies stepped on to the court with a lot of confidence, and as a team we took it to them,” said Rathbun after the win. “The first two games we controlled the tempo and we played so well as a team, and it all clicked for us.

I was really proud also because I felt like this was the first time I felt like the team really trusted each other, and it was a great team win for us.”

Brook Hill took control in the first two games winning 25-17 and 25-21. The Lady Mustangs battled back to take a 16-25 win before the Lady Guard hustled and bumped to a deciding 25-15 game-winner.

The last point of the match was much like the game. A diving dig by sophomore, Morgan Moss, followed by Charlie Niles with the bump assist, and junior Samantha Anderson slamming down another kill, and a share of the top spot.

Anderson had a huge game on the frontline with 17 kills, and six blocks. Niles, chimed in with nine kills, two blocks, six assists and nine digs. Junior, Lindsey Wheeler had 13 assists, and Moss finished up with 10 digs, and nine assists.
