High School Football: Area Roundup Week 6

Rusk, Troup and Alto to open district play

Alto Yellowjackets (3-2, 0-0) at Cushing Bearkats (1-4, 0-0)

7:30 .m. Friday at J. F. Whitaker Stadium in Cushing

Head Coaches: Paul Gould, Alto; Bill Jehling, Cushing

Last Week: Both teams were idle last week.

Next Week: West Sabine at Alto; Shelbyville at Cushing

Quick Take: Cushing has won just seven games in the past six years and has not beaten Alto since 1992...The Yellowjackets, who played their best football of the year two weeks ago in defeating Trinity 31-14, have given up just six points to the Bearkats in the last five meetings...New coach Jehling has the responsibility of reviving a down trodden Bearkat football program...This one has all the makings of another lopsided win by Alto.

TCA Cedar Hill Tigers (3-2, 0-2) at Brook Hill Guard (3-2, 2-0)

Head Coaches: Mike Helmer, TCA_Cedar Hill; Bobby Brasher, Brook Hill

Last Week: Grace Community 49, TCA-Cedar Hill 25; Brook Hill 42, Dallas Shelton 0

Next Week: Prince of Peace at TCA Cedar Hill; Brook Hill at Dallas Christian

Quick Take: A tough non-conference schedule seems to have played in favor of the Guard as Brook Hill comes into this test after earning a pair of loop victories in as many weeks...Meanwhile the Tigers have opened conference with two losses...TCA-Cedar Hill has scored 40 or more points twice this year, so the Tigers cannot be completely discounted, even though Brook Hill, at least on paper, appears to be the superior team...Brook Hill has had success mixing things up on offense and has shown it can win games via the run or pass.

One of the main things I really look forward to in the summer is locating and catching schooling bass. Schooling bass are not always easy to catch. Sometimes they are very aggressive and will react to a variety of baits. At other times they become very hard to catch. I have several baits that I rely on, but some are favorites.
