JUCO Soccer: Lady Jags come close to pulling off a sweep; men lose twice

JACKSONVILLE —

Jacksonville College's two soccer teams had a busy weekend as they played host to Paris Junior College on Friday afternoon and Northeast Texas Community College Saturday evening.

All of the Region 14 action took play at Bill McRae Soccer Field on the JC campus.

 

Lady Jaguars come close to pulling off a sweep

The JC ladies battled fiercely against Paris, with the Lady Dragons edging JC, 4-3, in overtime.

The Lady Jags (4-8, 2-4 Region 14) bounced back Saturday and leveled Northeast Texas, 4-1, giving the JC women their second win of the season over the Lady Eagles from Mount Pleasant.

The Lady Jags return to the Bill McRae pitch at 6 p.m. Thursday by entertaining No. 2-ranked Navarro College at 6 p.m.

 

Jaguars fall to Paris NE Texas

The JC men fell 6-2 to Paris on Friday and then were nipped, 2-1, by the Eagles of Northeast Texas the following evening. The Jags are 2-7-2 overall, 1-6 in Region 14.

The JC men host Mountain View College in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. Friday.

The two clubs played to a 1-1 draw back on Aug. 27 in Dallas.
