Texas High School Bass Association to host tourney on Lake Palestine Progress staff reports

The Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) will be hosting a fishing tournament for high school anglers on Nov. 16 at Lake Palestine.

The tourney will be hosted by Bullard High School and by Kaufman High School.

Launch will start at 6:30 a.m. from The Villages Marina, 18270 Singing Wood Lane, in Flint. Teams can launch from The Villages or can trailer to another ramp of their choice. No one can leave from a launch until 7:10 a.m., with fishing to start at 7:20 a.m.

Weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m.and will be done by flight. Flight 1 starts at 3 p.m., Flight 2 at 3:15 and Flight 3 at 3:30 p.m.

This will be the second stop on a five-stop tournament schedule for the high school fishermen.

THSBA is in its first year.

The organization started in August with eight teams and has now grown to a total of 26 teams.

According to Tim Haugh, Bullard Panthers Fishing Club advisor, 19 schools and 60 teams participated in last weekend's tournament, which took place at Lake Fork.

B.A.S.S. calls this its fastest growing regional event in the nation.
