BUFFALO, Texas —
Rusk's bid at advancing to the regional quarterfinals of the state playoffs was derailed by the Lady Leopards of Lorena Thursday night at Buffalo High School.
The Lady Leopards, the District 17-3A champions, made short of head coach Cheryl Parsley's Lady Eagles, winning 3-0 in the Class 3A, Region III Area match.
Lorena opened up by claiming a 25-18 decision over Rusk in Game 1.
The Lady Eagles,the third-place team fromDistrict 19-3A, came right back and nearly evened the score before the Lady Leopards eventually took Game 2, 25-22.
In what turned out to be the final set, Lorena flex its muscle by downing Rusk, 25-10, to end the Lady Eagles' season.
Lorena will advance to play College Station early next week in a regional quarterfinal match.
College Station coasted past Fairfield 3-0 on Thursday to earn the right to take on Lorena.
