35-4A Soccer: Jacksonville girls hang 7 on Lady Riders Progress staff reports

JACKSONVILLE —

Jacksonville kept a firm grip on first place in the District 35-4A standings Friday night by clubbing Center, 7-0, at the Tomato Bowl.

The Fightin' Maidens improved to 5-5-2. 4-0-1 in district, with the win while maintaining a single point lead over second-place Nacogdoches.



Senior forward Rachel Stirneman put the Maidens on the board first when she scored in the 13th minute.



About three minutes later, Lindsey Green deposited the ball into the net, with Bea Romero getting the assist on the play.



Following Romero's goal in the 24th minute, Jacksonville was able to take a 3-0 lead into intermission.

Stephanie Ruiz was credited with an assist on Romero's goal.



In the opening minute of the final half, Mia Zidan added an insure goal to the Jacksonville total, while Johnston picked up an assist.

Callie Reagan, Ruiz and Green scored the remaining goals for the winners.



Romero, Reagan and Zidan had second-half assists for the Maidens also.



"It was a very god night for us," Jacksonville head coach, Kiff Wiemers, said. "We were able to get the win, stay ahead of Nacogdoches and get a lot of our girls involved in things."



JUNIOR VARSITY: Jacksonville 7, Center 0: The Maiden JV also won by a 7-0 score as Kyla Santana had a hat trick for the Maidens. Alyssa Villanueva added two goals for the Blue and White while Esther Botello and Sydney McDaniel scored one apiece.
