Rusk got some timely pitching to go along with a slew of outstanding performances at the plate to post a 4-2 record in the Palestine Tournament, which concluded on Saturday.
On Thursday Rusk(4-3) split its games, edging Athens, 5-4, and thumping Van by a 5-1 count.
On Saturday, the Eagles lost to Center, 10-2, but recovered to blank Elkhart, 4-0.
Saturday saw the Red and Black bats explode for a total of 28 runs,
The Eagles stopped Elkhart, 13-3, and clobbered Crockett's Bulldogs, 15-4.
In the win over the Elks on Saturday, Rusk picked up 15 hits in the game.
Vijay Stingley picked up four hits, followed by Austin Ballew with three and Parker Clark with two.
Blake Walley, Clark and Ballew drove in two runs each in the Eagle win.
Justin Daughtery had a pair of hits for the Eagles in the Crockett game while Ballew and Stingley drove in three runs apiece.
Josh Raiborn struck out four in two innings on the mound to earn the pitching win.
Jadarian Skinner and Ballew combined to no-hit Elkhart on Friday. They fanned four and two batters, respectively.
Clark had two hits in the game to lead Rush at the plate.
Rusk will be playing in the Kilgore Tournament (Thur.-Sat.) later this week.
