Making a strong case to be the area's most improved team, the Jacksonville Fightin' Maidens went 3-0 on first-day play of the Tyler Tournament on Thursday to improve to 11-5 on the year.
The Maidens collected wins over Winona (9-2), Palestine Westwood (6-3) and Brook Hill (5-3).
In the game against Winona, Jordane Mallard and Damonica Franklin both laced inside-the-park home runs for Jacksonville.
Dasha Canady chipped in with a triple, while TaSheena Canady and Nicole Robinson each doubled.
Hannah Holcomb and Nicole Robinson both saw duty in the circle for the Maidens.
In the Westwood game, Holcomb, a freshman, picked up the pitching win after striking out five opposing batters.
Franklin and Abby Hicks forged out doubles to guide the Maidens at the plate.
Earning its second win of the week over Brook Hill,it was again the pitching work of Holcomb who got the job done for the Blue and White.
Holcomb fanned five Lady Guard batters in the game.
TaSheena Canady and Dasha Canady each had inside-the-park home runs for the Maidens.
Jacksonville is scheduled to visit Brownsboro for a 7 p.m. game onTuesday.
