Jacksonville brought home the runner-up trophy from the Tyler Tournament this past weekend, after going 1-1-1 on Saturday.
The Fightin' Maidens (12-6-1) blanked Teague, 2-0, tied the Lady Hornets of Athens (5-5) and lost to Winnsboro by an 8-1 margin.
“We are very proud of what our girls were able to accomplish in this tournament,” Jacksonville head softball coach Amber Danner-Kirk siad. “And, we are looking forward to what is to come.”
Danner-Kirk listed several monumental performances from the weekend, including a TaSheena Canady triple to tie the Athens game, a “game changing” defensive play by infielder Daisha Canady in the same game, Nicole Robinson's steady play at shortstop and Hannah Holcomb's 16-strike-out effort on Thursday.
The Jacksonville girls will visit Brownsboro for a 5 p.m. (varsity) game tonight.
