The words Waco University continued to be dreaded ones around Jacksonville Indian soccer circles because for the third-straight year the Trojans have eliminated the Tribe from the state Class 4A, Region III playoff scene.
University beat up on the Tribe, 3-1, on Thursday night at the Midlothian ISD Complex.
Last year, University stopped Jacksonville by the same, 3-1, score in a Sectional round match that was played in Corsicana.
The match was tied, 0-0, after the first 40 minutes of play, but the Trojans got rolling after that.
University will advance to face Nacogdoches, who edged Salado 1-0 on Thursday, in a Sectional match early next week.
Meanwhile, the Tribesmen end the year at 13-10.
Jacksonville was the third-place team out of District 35-4A, while the Trojans won the District 33-4A title this season.
The Indians, under the direction of head coach Randy Hammontree, closed the year out by winning five of their last six matches.
Jacksonville is expected to return a solid nucleus next season.
