TROUP —

In a game that Tatum, ranked No. 4 in this week's Class 2A poll, led form start to finish, Troup found itself without enough weapons to kept the Eagles of Tatum from soaring to victory.

When all was said and done, long scoring plays and a second half flurry by the Eagles kept them undefeated at 2-0 in league play with a 35-21 win at Tiger Stadium.

After Troup (5-2, 1-1 in District 9-2A-I) ruled the story of the statistics, a long punt return by Chaston Brooks and a field goal by Dusty Richardson with the first half clock expiring left the game at a 10-7, Tatum (7-0, 2-0) at intermission.

The Tigers tied the game with 40-seconds left before half when Tiger quarterback uncorked a 48-yard pass, hauled in by Hitachi Lydia in the Eagles end zone. Max Salinas knocked the PAT boot true for the brief 7-7 tie, before the field goal by Richardson had more than enough distance for the lead.

Troup controlled the clock and the yardage in the opening half combining for 206 yards to 94-yards by Tatum.

The second half was a different story however as the Eagles used six ball carriers and scored on runs of 47 and 62-yards, and two field goals by Dusty Richardson to make the 35-21 final.

After a Tatum 13-yard scoring strike from J.D. Taylor to Deyanta Robertson, Troup answered back quickly.

Brandon Hearon got behind the Tatum secondary and Lynch was on the money with the throw for a 73-yard, catch-and-run for a 28-21, Eagles lead.

However, one offensive play later, Brooks made his presence felt on a 62-yard blast up the middle for the final tally after the PAT boot was true.

The Eagles got the running game rolling in the second half to finish up with 321 yards in 31 carries as a team. Troup had 222-yards in 43 tries, but 98-yards from JD Taylor and an additional 91-yards in four carries for Kyshaun Smith was the second half determinator.

Troup quarterback, Blake Lynch ran 21 times for 102 yards and threw for 139-yards to account for 261 total yards. Hitachi Lydia hauled in a 48-yard scoring strike from Lynch, and Hearon added on 73-yard passing TD for the final Troup tally.
