Troup Middle School opened its volleyball season at home Thursday afternoon with the Lady Tiger 7th-grade teams sweeping Sabine.
Sabine bounced back and won both of the 8th-grade matches, however, despite a good effort from the Lady Tigers.
The Troup 7th grade “A” team rolled to a 2-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-19) victory behind a 12-serve effort by Natalie Davenport.
Jessica Decco added eight serves, with Taylor Vance pitching in four.
The 7th-grade “B” match was a barnburner, with Troup coming out with a 2-1 (25-19, 21-25, 15-14) decision.
Dezirea Huff and Ashley Hill had nine and three serves, respectively, while Taylor Hunter and Aysia Johnson added two apiece.
The 8th-grade “A” team fell 2-0 (23-25, 10-25), but got nice service work from Alyssa Hearon (six serves), Alex Flora (three serves) and Jansen Reid, who had a pair of serves.
Sabine took the 8th-grade “B” match by the same 2-0 score, winning 25-13 and 25-15.
Leaders for the Lady Tigers were Catherine Barton (four serves) and Ali Reynoso with one serve.
Troup will be back in action Saturday, participating in the Whitehouse Middle School Tournament.
