Stephen F. Austin State University, a No. 12 seed, shocked No. 5 seed Virginia Commonwealth, 77-75, in overtime Friday night in a second-round NCAA Tournament, South Region, game that took place at Viejas Arena in San Diego.
SFA (32-2), the Southland Conference champions, outscored the Rams (26-9), 10-8, in the bonus segment to pull of the upset.
The Lumberjacks from Nacogdoches trailed by double digits with a little over three minutes left in regulation, but SFA battled back to force an extra session.
Nikola Gagic, who previously played at Jacksonville College, scored nine points, hauled in six rebounds and had two assists and a steal.
SFA will face either UCLA or Tulsa in the Round of 32 on Sunday.
