CHICAGO — Jacksonville native Josh McCown has been named as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 14 of the NFL campaign.

McCown, the 34-year-old Chicago back-up quarterback, connected on 27 of 36 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns (no interceptions) in Chicago's 45-28 thrashing of Dallas on Monday.

McCown has led Chicago to a 3-2 record in starting the past five games for injured Jay Cutler.

One former Bear who believes that McCown has earned the right to remain the team's starter is Brian Urlacher.

Urlacher said in an interview on FOX Sports Daily Wednesday that McCown should remain the Bears' quarterback, regardless if Cutler is healthy or not.

“It's going to be awfully hard to take Josh out of there right now, the way he has been playing,” Urlacher said. “In my opinion, he (McCown) should be the guy, he should be the starting quarterback of the Bears, even if Jay Cutler is healthy. You can't take a guy that is this hot out of the football game.”

Chicago travels to Cleveland on Sunday.
