18AA All-District Volleyball: Troup dominates selections

Ross picked as MVP; Johnson Coach of the Year

TROUP —

Student athletes from District 18-2A champion Troup raked in the awards as was revealed by the release of the 18-2A All-District team.

Junior hitter, Josee Ross, was named as the loop's Most Valuable Player, with Carly Dyess, a senior, earning All-District Setter lauds.

Other superlative winners from Troup included, Caitlyn Vickers (Co-Newcomer of the Year), Bethany Mason, a senior, All District Defensive Specialist and Lady Tiger head coach, Arden Johnson, who was voted as the conference's Coach Of the Year.

Two Lady Tigers, Cheyney Cover, a senior outside hitter and junior hitter Paeton Nolan, were selected for the First Team.

Meanwhile, senior Monet Hale was honored with Second Team mention.

Seven Lady Tigers took home Academic awards.

That list include, Cover, Hale, Ross, Nolan, Vickers, Kayla Thomas and Lana Ledford.

Other superlative honorees were, Indy Holland of Arp (Co-Newcomer of the Year) and Harmony's Makinna Seahorn (All District Best All Around).

Frankston's Autumn Kummer earned All District Blocker and All District Libero went to Jodi Hoelscher of Harmony.

A pair of Sabine seniors, Haley Stuart (All District Hitter) and Tylia Sylestine (All District Server) also received black type accolades, following the vote of the distirct's coaches.

    In filling its opening for a head girl's basketball coach, The Brook Hill School turned to Ivan Johnson, a coach that has been has achieved playoff success in TAPPS circles.

    Johnson was introduced as Brook Hill's man to lead the Lady Guard hoop charges Tuesday afternoon in a press conference that was held on campus at the Kyle Lake Athletic Center.
