Brook Hill loses by 1 to No. 2 Yavneh

In a battle of TAPPS Division II state ranked teams, Brook Hill was clipped, 56-55, by Yavneh Academy earlier this week in Dallas in the regular season finale for both outfits.

The Bulldogs (30-4, 10-0) swept the season series over the Guard (16-12, 8-2), after winning by three points in the team's first meeting, which took place at Herrington Gymnasium in Bullard.

Brook Hill led 34-32 at the break, and 48-45 heading into the final segment, before the Bulldogs shot past the Guard in the last period of play.

Alex Hale dumped in 25 points to lead Brook Hill and Clayton Engel added 13.

Grant Hanks tossed in seven for the Guard, followed by Phillip Kitt with six.

Sam Heinman led Yavneh with 16 points.

The Bulldogs ranked No. 2 in TAPPS Division II, will represent the district in the playoffs that open next week as the first place team and No. 11 Brook Hill will go in as the runner-up.
