TATUM — Usually when a team shoots over 50-percent from the field good things happen and such was the case Tuesday night at Eagle Coliseum at Tatum High School where New Summerfield ran rough shod over Shelbyville's Dragons.

The Hornets (18-13) shot 51-percent (26 of 56) from the field in silencing Shelbyville, 72-59, in the Class A, Division I, Region 3, bi-district contest.

New Summerfield now advances to the Area round where they will face off against Dallardsville Big Sandy at 7 p.m. Friday at Lufkin Hudson.

The Hornets' post players feasted on the Dragons as Wendl Thomas and William Ramsey dumped in 22 and 17 points, respectively.

Thomas, a junior, added nine rebounds, while Ramsey, a senior, pulled down eight boards.

Junior Francisco Parra also had a productive outing. He scored 13 points and had a team-high four assists.

Case Wilkerson, a sophomore, tossed in eight points and shagged six rebounds.

New Summerfield, the District 21-A-I runner-up, seemed to get stronger as the night unfolded. The Hornets outscored the Dragons 45-35 in the second half.
