ALTO — Troup bats exploded for seven hits on Tuesday when the Tigers pounded Alto, 10-7, in the 2014 opener for both clubs.
Head coach Tell Ross' Tigers plated two runs in the first inning and then added another pair of runs in the top of fourth, before the Yellowjackets got on the board by answering with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The knockout punch came in the top of the sixth when the Tigers sent four men across the dish to move in front, 8-2.
Mason Mallard doubled twice for the Tigers and L. Smith earned the pitching victory.
Jose Perez, Lance Collins, Charlie Wallace, Nolan Collins, Armando Arroyo and Jyran Shaw had one hit each for the Yellowjackets.
Darren Collins was the losing pitcher for Alto.
Troup is participating in the Chapel Hill Tournament (Thur.-Sat.). this weekend.
