Netting five runs on hits the Rusk Eagles were able to remain undefeated in District 19-3A play after shutting out the Goats of Groesbeck, 5-0, at Eagle Park on Friday.
Head coach Jason Barnes' Eagles are now 12-9, 7-0 in District 19-3A, and lead the second-place team in the loop by three games.
Players of impact offensively for the winners were, Parker Clark, Jadarian Skinner and Josh Raiborn.
Wade Gilchrest worked six innings to earn the win on the hill for the Red and Black. Gilchrest struck out six batters.
The game marked the return of the Eagles' Morgan Johnson. Johnson saw his first action of the year on Friday when he worked an inning of relief after suffering a knee injury during football season.
Groesbeck (8-14-1, 3-5) also got five hits in the game, but could not plate anyone.
Rusk takes its show on the road this week, visiting Mexia tonight and Fairfield on Friday.
First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. for both of those contests.
