Alto dodged a bullet against upset-minded Cushing on Friday.
The Lady Jackets scored two runs in the first frame and then spent the rest of the evening holding off the home team to eventually punch out a 2-1 win.
Alto outhit Cushing, 8-5, with Cushing scoring its run in the home half of the sixth frame.
Freshman Alyssa Duplichain turned in a noteworthy effort. She went 3 for 3 at the plate to spark Alto (18-3, 10-0 in district).
Dariyana Moore had two hits for Alto, including a triple, with while Pam Arroyo added in a couple of safeties.
The Lady Jackets' Madison Crisp prevailed in her pitching duel with Cushing's Sky Risinger.
Crisp tossed a completed game and didn't allow any runs on five hits. She also struck out five Cushing batters.
So far, Alto has scored 152 runs in 10 district outings while allowing only 20 runs.
The Lady Jackets have an open date this evening, but will host Wells at 5 p.m. Friday. That game will serve as Senior Night for the Alto ladies.
