Whatever the “it” factor was for the Troup Tigers and Lady Tigers seemed to fuel the squads to a fast start on Wednesday, the opening day of the District 21-2A Meet, which is used to decide the circuit's representatives into the upcoming area meet.
While complete and official results were not available as of press time Thursday evening, at least two Lady Tigers had earned a spot into the area competition based on their outstanding performances on Wednesday.
Carly Dyess finished third and Lana Ledford ended up fourth in discus, with both advancing on to the are meet, which is scheduled for next Friday at West Rusk.
Arp, Hawkins, Harmony, Sabine, Frankston, Winona and West Rusk competed along side Troup at the meet.
All of the other local and area UIL schools were scheduled to have concluded their respective district meets on Thursday evening also.
Jacksonville’s teams were in Lindale for the District 16-4A Meet, while Rusk's District 19-3A meet was held at Wildcat stadium in Palestine.
Bullard hosted the District 16-3A Meet, while New Summerfield and Alto journeyed to Cushing for their track championships.
Results of these events will be published in forthcoming editions of the Daily Progress as they become available.
