TROUP — Troup's Luke Smith paid double dividends for his team during the Tigers' 2-1 District 18-2A victory over Winona.
On the mound, Smith held Winona to three hits while striking out seven in earning a complete game victory.
With his bat, Smith accounted for two of Troup's six hits.
Mason Mallard and Brant Palmer were other players of impact, offensively, for the Tigers.
Mallard and Palmer had a hit and a RBI each.
The Tigers scored once in the opening frame, only to have the Wildcats (7-11,7-5 18-2A) comeback to knot things up in the following segment.
Troup picked up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Tigers improved to 12-8, 8-4 with the win.
Troup is tied with Hawkins for second place in the district standings, with both schools being a game behind league-leading Sabine.
Troup concluded the regular season at 7 p.m. Tuesday by journeying to Sabine.
