Troup boys golf team in 3rd place at state tourney

The Troup Tiger golf team sat in third place after the first round of the UIL Class A Golf State Championship on Wednesday at the Roy Kizer course (6,739 yards, par 71) in Austin.

Salado (327) sat atop the leader board in the team standings, with Wall (332) in second, followed by Troup (341).

Golfers from Crockett were fourth, coming in at 347.

Tanner Emery shot an 80 to lead the Tigers, with Jamey Scruggs checking in at 85.

Other Tiger golfers included, Callen Eastman (88), Cody Johnson (88) and Hunter Arnold (95).

Zach James of Whitesboro had the lowest Day 1 score, coming in at 75, one stroke in front of Dalton Hankamer of Salado.

The tourney is scheduled to conclude today.
